How do I keep the spiders out?

How do you use this. Do you spray the whole boat , leave it for a day then wash the boat the next day?
While I don't use that product, I spray the dock, the dock poles, the lines, and the shore side of the seawall. I will lightly spray the dockside toe trail. We have good results.

I tried Seven but it did not seem to kill the spiders. It was about 5 years old. I mixed it up in a pail and actually dropped a spider in the pail. The spider just crawled around for about 3 min. Does SEVEN take longer to work, or maybe it was just old.

I've been working on my boat this week getting it ready for storage. The boat was sprayed around August 5, 2010 along with the dock and still has no spiders. It has been dry here with little rain. The dock has no spiders either and it gets hosed down once a week when the boat is washed. You may not have used the right dilution of Seven. Our boat had white water marks everywhere after it dried so I could see that nothing was missed. We gave it a good washing to get rid of them the day following the treatment. I would add that the label does warn against use around water, but we still have lots of fish jumping, birds swimming and small things swimming through the water. I would advise against using these kinds of products on a regular basis, but they do improve your quality of life by eliminating spiders. Our area is known for Brown Recluse spiders and a friend ours went through some serious surgeries to debrid wounds on his leg from a Recluse bite. They are not to be messed with.

Thanks I will try again with fresh bottle of Sevn and see what happens. Ya, I really don't like the spiders, they are dirty creatures. I get that we need them, but just not on my boat.

With Bug Off I do the same thing as LTD, except I sprayed the rub rails, dock lines, and anything near or on the dock. No need to wash it off, it is not noticeable and totally harmless to the gelcoat and stainless.

I have not tried it, but, a detailer told me to soak the cleat ends of your dock lines in Spectracide overnight. Does it work?
Problem with the little poopers is that they just walk over top of everything. Muddaubers love 'em though :smt009 The Muddies build mud nests in my boat and then pack them with spiders. Geez! :smt009

Some spiders walk on the lines to get to your boat, but many blow out of trees during storms and they make webs during their flight and stick to whatever they run into. I like it when they run into land mines like Home Defense or Seven.

Every week i just jump on the boat, let out a loud roar, stomp my foot, and tell em to bring it on...... they run.....

bounce sheets dont seem to work for me.

You Tube Video please!

BTW, when I spray the Ortho Home Defense stuff, I use one of these. It sprays more evenly and I don't have to keep pulling up the handle on the Ortho jug. It's also a lot faster than using the jug.

$30 at Harbor Freight and well worth it. Just Saying......

We have alot of spiders & webs on the posts & lines too but the ceiling on our dock is pretty high and spider poop drops all over the boat making me hafta wash it every trip to the lake. So I too need to find a good product and be able to shoot it up to the ceiling with my pressure washer?? Anybody done this?? We don't have any trouble with spiders in the cabin but the first thing the wife does is plug in her small carpet vac w/hose & crevice tool and sucks up the critters that have taken up residence in the cockpit while we weren't there. She's learned all their hiding places.

Almost all garden shops sell products that attach to garden hoses and which can be used to treat fruit trees and what have you. Their range is pretty much determined by your water pressure.

Use of a high pressure sprayer or hose attachment would, IMHO, be a violation of many federal laws. All it would take would be some do-gooder on your dock who saw you spray that way and turn you in. These days, with everyone having cell phone cameras, you have to know that EVERYTHING you do can be photographed by someone.

Personally I would not want the EPA or DEQ after me for that level of pollution.

Not to sound too prissy, but you know, those sprays are not good for PEOPLE either. And you're soaking it up too. Like as the dried residue gets on your hands, then into your mouths. And there is residue: there has to be to keep the bugs at bay, so they make it that way. As well as the environmental stuff. Just sayin'
Our dock has tons of spiders, But when I come, I just order them to depart and they do. Big line of 'em, in single file.

Our Marina has recently hired Terminix for spider and bird control. I do not have too much problems with spiders inside the boat but a lot of poop to clean up. Time will tell if Terminix is effective.

The metal roof and ibeams are too high above my boat to easily access. Some of the houseboaters on my dock will take high pressue washers to blast their nests but they do use any chemicals that I am aware of.

Sometime ago a forum member had suggested the no pest strips inside for spider control.
