How you repair it depends on how anal you are about how it's going to look after it's repaired. If you just want the color to match but don't care if there's a ding visible, go to Lowe's and pick up a wood stain crayon. That will let you match the color back to the original.
If you're more anal than that, get a can of wood filler while you're there and a can of stain to match. Fill it in with wood filler, sand it down to match the contours and curves, then stain it.
