How can I get more out of my Alpha I

I have a '89 220CC with the 4.3L V6 (175hp). I've seen the same boat with the 4.3LX V6 (205 hp) and even a V8. I can see why they put bigger engines in the later models, although my boat gets out of the hole OK, it's top end -with a new 19p stainless steel prop- is only about 34mph. My WOT is 4400 RPM so I don't want to increase my pitch any more.

Any suggestions (under $1000 please :smt001 ) on how to get more speed out of it. I'd love to get up to 40mph

With my 5.7 and 4400 RPM I'm only doing about 40...

You are pretty much at your max.
