I saw a post that said 'around here we average 50 hours a year'... I thought wow! Is that all? We do that per month during the summer. Plus the 'winter' is quite short here so most boats that go to storage are only stored 3 or 4 months. I'd say we're averaging 175 to 200 a year... maybe a tad more on the nice summers.
How many hours do you put on yours?

I use to be about 125 with my sport bow rider but my first year last summer with the 290 was 80. We had A LOT more time on the hook but less time running because we were confined to a smaller lake. That will change this year when we get the trailer.

I have averaged 80 hr/year. Last year we purchased the curent boat and moved it from CT to western NY so we put 123 on. Have 170 on it now.

Only just getting going on my second season my 320, put on just south of 100 hours last year. On our lake we have a total of an hour at no wake speeds round trip each day, some days that is doubled with evening cruises. Even on my 280da and smaller our hours have always stayed south of 100 a summer.

Hours don't really tell the story as to how OFTEN someone uses their boat...just how much the engines are run.

A quick run to the sandbar for the day (or weekend) puts less than two hours on the mains (and ten or forty on the gen).

One day fishing offshore, they'll run ten or twelve hours, never shut down from the time I leave the dock 'till I get back.

75 hours a year for two years. use the boat every weekend in the summer. put away for six months, MN winter...

After my wife died :smt089, I went crazy and took off the following year from work.
I spent everyday on the lake in a grieving / partying state of mind .
I pissed away thousands of dollars and racked up 615hrs in one season. :smt021
I have over 1300 pics from that wacky episode. :wow:

Man, that is tough. I think I would do exactly as you did.

We're doing about 50 hours a year right now. Our trip in June will be about 75. We spend 1/2 of the weekends on the boat, but usually just 2 miles from our dock - in another world.

Last year I'm lucky if I hit 60hrs, Because I almost kill myself !!!
Using that bug bomb crap to get rid of the spiders. :smt021
Do you remember that retarded moment ??.

I do.

I used a bug bomb just before you did. I went to work for 9 hours while it took affect. It takes time, but I'm beginning to know more people on this site.

About 200 or so for us; and to another post, that only counts the time the engine is running.

We use our boat a lot, during the week as well as weekends.

Scott, Gas is at $3.00agal on the streets here. :smt021
It doesn't look good for this summer on the water !!!!!. :smt013

If it gets to bad ??.
Just call me dock QUEEN...... Wayne .

Back to the days of my 1st season on my 280, couple years ago, we were burning that lovely $5 gallon gas. I'm like everyone else, it is not just engine hours that make a season. Since our boat now is on bilge heaters, we visit and use our boat (aka the floating lake house) mostly every and any weekend we have free year 'round. Bilge heater's were the key for us, now we can enjoy a cruise and often do anytime of the year we want. Nice thing about our floating second home is we can enjoy it not even taking it out of the slip, just chillin' on the patio at the slip with our lake friends, etc. JMHO.....

I bought my 02 in august of 08 with 72 hours on it. It now has 162. I dont use it as much as I'd like to, I travel a lot for work and being smaller it can get very choppy on the river (3 miles wide where I am) making it difficult to get out on a lot of the nicer days. Today is my first time home since the 22nd of Feb (a month) and I plan to go out tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

And the worse part of the gas prices is that there is no reason for it. I tracked from the first of the year stock piles of gas and oil, the price, off shore tankers used for storage, the value of the dollar, refinery production levels and other factors. Right now the biggest shipping tanker companies are at their highest levels ever of using their tankers for off shore storage and getting big bucks to keep it there. Refineries are running around 80% capacity or less.

The commodities market I swear is just a gambling market to see if they can drive the price up. All in the name of greed by the corporations.

Yeah, I know... almost all of us spend time... sometimes lots on our boats without the engine's running. I didn't want to get into too much detail. We did about a dozen or so over-nighters on the 240 last year.
Those are some good numbers... glad to see I'm not the only boat junkie :)

I have about 10 hours so far this year! This is our first season but I anticipate 75 hours or more. After yesterday's cruise we may move farther into the delta so we drive the car farther tha nthe boat to get where we want to spend time. The marina we are in now does give us better access to the bay but we think the delta is where we will spend more of our time.
