Hour Meter

Is this a required thing or not...

I have a 1988 SeaRay Seville MC with a 5.7l Mercruiser
Which I have not found one like it, they all have 4.3l.(??)

But there isn't an hour meter anywhere...

The engine runs great, just can't imagine why it doesn't
have a meter...

My 1991 270DA had the hour meter installed on the engine block, this was a dealer option, it wasn't standard. However my 1998 210 Sundeck, the hour meter is part of the tachometer so it is a standard item. I think it depends on the year and make. I don't know if there is an industry standard concerning hour meters:huh:.
