While winterizing the fresh water systems yesterday I was bypassing my hot water tank when I noticed a valve (multi turn) where the hot water leaves the tank to the hot water manifold. This valve had both a hot water supply (from the tank) and a cold water supply. My guess is that it is a blending valve for hot and cold water to be used as a hot water temperature regulator. Does this sound right? My hot water has always been scolding hot so this may be a way to cool is down a bit.

Bill....yes it does sound right. I don't know the actual configuration of the newer 320, but my 2002 380DA had a 'mixing' valve connected directly to the HWH. The 'mixing' valve is the black valve in the first pic below. When winterizing, I couldn't just use a store bought bypass kit. I had to make a three way bypass from 15mm tubing, two elbows and a tee.

Here's a few pics of that bypass that I installed.

The two blue lines are the two cold water lines. One is to feed the HWH itself and the other goes to the mixing valve to add cold to hot ciruit. The upper 'bend' in the gray line goes to the red hot water line (not in the pic) to complete the bypass...

Here is a closer look at the drain valve for the HWH. It's permanently connected to a hose that drains into the forward part of the main bilge...

I don't understand the logic behind that type of installation. Diluting" the hot water supply only results in more hot water being needed to get to the temp you want, which wastes your hot water...

It would be like turning the themostat down on your hot water heater at home. I do not need the water being so hot you risk being burned turning it on, which mine is right now.

In this case it is just the opposite. I need to add cold water to get the desired temperature; hence I have more hot water supply not less.

These valves, IMHO, are more intended for the kids. They might be more inclined to turn on full Hot at the faucet or shower and burn themselves. The simple solution is: if you want less hot water at the faucet or shower, then add more cold water at the faucet or shower.

My 380DA had the mixing valve......my 410DA does NOT have the valve.....go figure!!!!
