The horns on my 350 Sundancer stopped working. I got new ones and they don't work either. I checked the voltage at the wires for the horns and I get 12 volts when the switch is depressed. I took the new horns home and hooked them up to a 12 volt power supply and they work fine. What's going on? Seems like there's not enough current under load to drive the horns with the boat wiring? What could have changed? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

Google horn relay.

My 86 Seville had a bad horn button, Would show voltage when pressed but aparently when it had a load it would not work, Try by-passing the switch & see if the horn works.

Mine sounds like a dead duck.....

Must be something wrong with the wires. If you're getting 12v and it's still not working, try hooking some temporary wires up to the horn from the switch. Or hook a different horn up to the existing wires. Maybe the wires are breaking down and/or you have a short.

you might have water in your lines. disconnect them from the air compressor and blow them out with a high pressure compressor or jury rig a shop vac.

I believe the OP is asking about electric horns. My bet is a faulty ground wire/connection.

Check the lines where they connect to see if they are green and corroded. Cut back a couple inches if they are and reconnect. That's normally what happens
