Anyone know where the air compressor for the horn would locate
Thanks Bob

Look behind master TV if same as 450EB.

In my 2000 410 da it's behind the back panel in the closet Starboard side of master state room. Had to take out shelf and forward side to remove back panel. If your horns are working but low volume check horns outlet in anchor locker. By outlet I mean between metal horn and plastic section to get sound outside. You need to take horns apart to see inside. Mine was jammed with spider webs, nests.
Took horns apart, clean and re install and good to go for many years. I also took horn plate off the port side and installed a screen between hull and plate to keep spider out,
Hope this helps

starboard side hanging locker forward. That's where they put mine on an 03. Pull the screws that hold the panel that "hides" it.

Not sure what boat you have. On my 540 da it is behind the main 240 v panel.

I was doing a search on AFI Air Horns and found this thread. Since I have the 460, too, I was wondering if you could share what problems you were experiencing Doozie? Recently I hit some rather rough water and buried my nose a few times. Now, my compressor runs but no sound. I took the air hose off the compressor located in the starboard locker in the master behind the 5" x30" wood panel and lubricated it with a few drops of oil. Still, no sound from the horns. What problems were you experiencing? TIA!

Same problem, I did oil it and that seems to have taken care of it.

Doozie, how did you lubricate the compressor? I had a problem with my horn, the compressor seemed to be working so I went forward and removed the air lines from the trumpets and sqwirted the insides with WD-40. But, the horn still don't work until I pinched off one of the horns airlines so all the air went through only one trumpet. I am now wondering if my problem is the compressor is not putting out enough air.

Thanks, Art

Art- According to the AFI website, maintenance on the compressor is to squirt 3-4drops of lubricating oil into the top of the compressor after removing the air hose first. Reverse the electrical connections to "suck" instead of "blow" and activate a few times to fully lubricate the compressor. This maintenance schedule should be done every 3-4 months! Yeah, right!
Good Luck!

Thanks Doozie! I will check my pump again tonight and lubricate as I mentioned above.
