Hi, I need to access the horn wiring from inside the cabin ceiling of my 1991 SeaRay Sundancer 270DA. It has a storage compartment/panel. Inside the storage door I can see two brackets. One toward the back of the boat and one about midway of t panel which I can access. However, for that point(midway) forward there looks to be a wooden block and I don't see how the front of it is secured to the cabin ceiling or wall.

Any ideas on what else might be required to remove this assembly/panel to access the horn wiring?

Thanks,
Bryan

Turns out the brackets are the only hardware securing the storage compartment/panel. Had to cut the headliner to access the horn wiring. I cut the wire back and had all clean copper. Did a test run and connected the new horn to the clean wires. Still I have 12Vdc at the wire but the horn would only click and wouldn't sound off. So, I re-engineered the connection and installed relay to the existing wiring (low current draw) then wired 12AWG wire from the high current side of the relay back to the battery direct. Much, much, better. The gauge wire Sea Ray uses for an electric horn seems to be undersized. Each trumpet pulls 4.8 amps creating too much of a loss of voltage in the feeder line to the horn. Hence the reason for going to a relay solution. Hope this may help others experiencing the same problem.
