I have a wiring problem with the horn for my 1994 370 EC. It came about as I was replacing the horn with a new one and found that the wire were just barely long enough to stick through the deck. Apparently they were puled tight from below when the boat was built. I think I have a break in one of the ires, but don't know how to access the wire, since they are between the deck and the headliner. Any ideas?

Many thanks for the good info I pick upon this site.

Use a DVOM and do a resistance check from one end of the wire to the other. Take the wire off the switch, first.

You can actually feel where the wires run between the headliner and the deck directly over the microwave in the galley. The best place to get a hold of them is at the curtain valence. You "might" be able to solder a new length of wire to it at that point and pull it back through to repair the wire.

I have been giving some thought to replacing the wires with a small air hose to power air horns rather than replace the electric horns every 2-3 years.

Thanks for the suggestions. I plan to test continuity this coming weekend and I'll feel for those wires as well. I bought the Ongaro all-stainless horns, in hope of a little more longevity. We'll see how that turns out.
