I think the horn button on my 2000 sundancer 240 needs to be replaced. Has anyone here done that?

I presume the control panel that has the horn button has to be disconnected from the back and pull out from the dash panel. I felt what I thought were three bolts but not positive that's how it comes out.

Hard for me to say on your boat but mine has a small access panel that I was able to get 1 hand in and unplug it and pull it out from the inside. Mine is just a red ouch button. Not sure if yours is a rocker type switch or not.

I checked with Marine Max, my horn button is part of the electric keypad so i will have to replace the whole assembly. It's only money...

Are you sure the horn, itself, is good? Verify by jumping 12v to it. The horn is also super easy to remove. You checked the fuse?

If you wanted, you could simply install a regular switch for the horn, instead of the keypad (if you can even still get it).

I agree with Dennis, pull the horn and see if it works when jumped to 12v. Horn failures are very common and the replacement part isn't expensive. Check the connections on both ends and maybe hit the switch with contact cleaner. If all that fails I'm not sure that I would invest in another keypad, I would opt for an alternative switch. That circuit is just too simple to justify a major investment.

When I bought the boat I knew the horn wasn't working. I bought the sea ray replacement horn as the original is no longer made. After I got the new one installed I turned on the batteries and the horn started going off. I tried pressing the horn button to see if it would turn off but it would not. I pulled the fuse for now. The replacement key pad is still available for $276. I have a handheld air horn for now to pass an inspection until I figure something else out. Another switch might be the way to go.
