Hope all of LKN members did OK yesterday...

Yeah, I am fine and my boat is tucked away in it's dry storage building. Our other LKN members are at the Boat Rack and PYC, did not hear of any problems. We got some snow and ice here in south Charlotte, but really less than a normal winter storm. The snow accumulations really went up as you go north though - LKN got 8-10". My daughter lives in Winston Salem NC - about 1.5hrs north/east of Charlotte - she got 14" which is a record I believe. We get a little snow every year here, a few 3-4" storms, maybe 8"'s every few years, but not in December. Anything that covers the roads here put's us in a tailspin - we just are not prepared for it! 12" would cripple us! I am still raking leaves! That Marina - Midway Marina - has a restaurant we take the boat to. The docks are pretty old, wood construction. I don't know any boat owners there, but hat to see boats get damaged. There is another marina farther up north on the lake - Bill's Marina - that had a dock collapse, it was also wood. Will be interesting to see what happens at Midway, I don't think LKN allows new construction of covered docks any longer.

We had a roof collapse at our boat club three years ago. We were all steel construction and it still came down on an entire section I’d dock..

Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the concern guys....I had a second hip replacement last week and have been recovering nicely at home....just now starting to feel 'normal' again....

We did not have any damage to our docks but the weight of the snow on the roofs pushed the floating docks down into the water enough that the dock lines were very tight and rubbing the gelcoat...I have a dock friend that lives near the marina and keeps check on things frequently.....he loosened the dock lines on my boat and kept them adjusted while the snow melted over the next several days....

That's great to hear (your recovery and the boat)!

Glad to hear you are doing well. Stay on the prescribed healing and rehab plan. Do not overdo it, everyone I know that has regretted it.

Glad your boat is ok too.
