I just installed a Clarion 10" sub in my 340 Sundancer. I got the Thunder Marine TM601D which was recommended by Crutchfield for this Clarion unit. Here is my question: There is little or no instructions with the Amplifier. Can I run the power cable to the DC circut breaker under the helm. There is a empty space for another breaker. My concern was if there would be enough power there. What little instructions there are with the amplifier indicate running the power cable to the battery. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi George, welcome aboard. You do not need to post the same question in multiple sections of the forum. Most of us use the new posts buttons and will see any questions no matter where they are placed I will have admin remove one of them as they clutter up the forum and make it hard for others to find the answers they are looking for.

Good luck, MM

That's the way we did it on a friends boat last summer and it works fine.

Where did you run the ground wire? I hooked up to the head unit ground wire but suspect I need to do something different

Your ground wire is as important as your power, don't skimp on the gauge of the ground. Best way is run ground from battery also. A lot depends on amp location.

If the manual isn't clear I wouldn't connect anything until I talked to MTX or Crutchfield technical support. You have a 600W mono-block Class D amplifier and the connection that you are describing isn't going to be enough. My 500W, 3-channel Class D amplifier from JL Audio specified a minimum 4AWG dedicated power cable to the battery with a dedicated 50A fuse at the battery. The ground cable gauge is supposed to match the power cable.

I installed a JL sub on my 320, have the amp connected straight to the battery with a 285 Series blue sea breaker as immediately after the battery connection. Where did you install the amplifier, next to the sub or in the engine area?
