To all who have served and are serving. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.
Have a great Veteran's Day.

Thanks to all my brothers and sisters who have served and are presently serving our great country. We are free because of you. I salute you this day and everyday I see a soldier, sailor, airman or marine. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed by those of us at home and abroad. I hold my head up high and proudly touch my left chest with my hand as I walk by you.
One of my favorite thanks to the military...

Thank you.

I posted this last Memorial Day. It's from the Heart.

A tribute to my Fathers service to his country

I did not serve in the military though my dad did. He served on a submarine tender, the USS Orion, for 12 years. I never had to go to war though my dad has a ribbon for the Korean conflict. I don’t have any awards for bravery but my dad has a commendation from former secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfeld, hanging in his home. I have learned about duty, honor, and commitment from the man who served, respected, and avowed loyalty to his country. I am an American and my dad is a Patriot. Because of his service I live free. We both live under the flag of the United States. Him, as the giver of freedom and me, as the receiver of freedom.

How much more is my responsibility to uphold the way of life he has provided than those who would come in with no history of duty, honor and commitment? Those how would take without asking, live under the flags protection without serving, or raise a family in a land that their fathers never fought for.

Our land provides a path for the homeless, the down trodden and the politically and religiously persecuted. This path was laid by our father who had enough insight and moral responsibility to the world to understand the awesome blessing we must share. When this path is followed the sojourners who follow it are given every right provided by our constitution. My father fought for this right for them.

The Red, White, and Blue is the very symbol of the freedom provided by the constitution and paid for with American blood. It is by these very same rights that I make this proclamation to the word and to those who would berate and suppress my flag.

I will show, wear, paint on, or otherwise display my flag whenever, wherever, and however I please. If you don’t like it then talk to my dad and all those who served, fought, or died for that right. It is on their blood that I will fight for our way of life and our flag. I can do no less. I am a patriot’s son!

Thanks Dad. Love Bill.

This is my little tribute for you. It’s a picture taken by me at the Nettuno (where I keep my SR) Cemetery where American soldiers who died in the Sicily-Rome campaign are buried.

In Italy and in Europe we forget way too often what happened some 60 years ago and how our populations anxiously waited for the US troops to be liberated from the crazy dictatorships that destroyed our countries. My father was there, his family house destroyed by bombers, fighting against the Nazi with the help of the Allies...thank you!

Old School it was your dad and with me it is my son he is pictured standing in front of the A-10 in Afghanistan. Pietro I wish more people on your side of the Ocean and ours would remember I thank you, my son will be heading your way on the 15th of this month for 2.5 years.

Daddubo. Please hug your son for me and thank him for his serves. God bless you for your support of your sons decision to serve.

Many of you on SRC are either serving, have served or know a loved one who is serving. Many have family members that have given their life. A thank you just doesn't cut it but what else can you say. There are no words.

Pietro. Thank you for remembering and a heart felt thank you to all those folks overseas who help support our troops through out the globe.

BTW. The A10 is one of the coolest aircraft ever made. Watched a pair in action at the Beaufort, SC air base during an air show. Even shooting blanks that thing was wild!!

Pietro, that is a beautiful picture. Thank you for thinking of us and our Veterans!

Today we attended a parade and ceremony in our little town. I brought my grandfather along, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the 63rd Infantry Division (Blood & Fire) in France and Germany. He was happy to meet our congressman, Steny Hoyer, personally who gave a nice speech during the ceremony.

In the photo, my grandfather is also with my girls.

Thank you to all who serve and who have served in our great Nations military!
