Honda Generator

Actually, in a sense that's not far off. Here in the great state of Indiana, I have to pay an excise tax on the boat just for the priviledge of owning it, along with all my cars as well. I suppose if I didn't pay the tax, obama could throw me in jail for that too. The jails are going to get awful crowded with folks who don't buy the mandated insurance or pay the extra taxes we have comming to a municipality near you.

But our property tax is far lower and easily offsets the cost. Or at least that has been my experience.

I use a Honda 2000 as you have described sometimes. I prefer to put the generator on shore and run a cord to the boats shore power plug. I use a carbon monoxide detector at all times in my cabin. I have an extended swimplatform so I go down the lake with it tied down so fumes will have a hard time getting in the bilge. The 2000 runs a 5btu a/c frig, battery charger and anything else I turn on.

Use ours on the bow all the time on long trips...

i used to do this every weekend for 2 years on my maxum 2900 and had no problem with the 2000. the only thing is you cant run the air and microwave at the same time. i put mine on the bow when in a cove and at night put it on the swimdeck for vibration reasons.

I would suggest wedging the genny in the center of an inner tube, then letting it trail off downwind about 30 feet or so - just tie the cord off on one of your stern cleats. This way you would solve the vibration issue, and all exhaust fumes would be already be downwind. There - all your problems are solved!

This is what I do, but I put it in the dingy. It still does not solve the mysterious grounding problem, but what the hell.
