My holding tank light does not say anything. I can see that it can light up empty, 1/2, full, do not use. It is not lighting anything except power. Do you know if this is normal or should it light up something? I just got the boat, 2000 340

I am pretty sure it will not indicate anything when it is neither empty, 1/2 full, nor full. It's progressive scale and the light won't come until the condition is met. I am pretty sure that is how mine works, but I am a bit doubtful because I figured the tank had to be at least 1/2 full a couple weekends ago yet no lights were on. Either it wasn't as full as I thought, it doesn't work the way I remember, or a float is stuck.

My indicator did not show anything either when I bought the boat. I ordered a bottle of holding tank float level cleaner - don't remember the name but I still have some on the boat. Followed directions and the stuff did its job. Now 5 years later the indicator levels are still working. Mine only shows a green colored "empty" and "one-half". We usually empty when the 1/2 lights up so we haven't seen "full" yet. We've always wondered what color the "full - do not use" light would be - - - - Red?

Jamesgang,
How about sharing that stuff's name if you have a chance, the holding tank float level cleaner. Thanks

Sure! I'll be going down on Friday evening or Saturday and will post the name and a pic of of the cleaner container I used. I'm sure I ordered it from someplace and I'm thinking it might be the stuff used in RV holding tanks. camping world.com has some Thetford Level Guage Cleaner. My container is 4-5 years old now but might be the same thing. I will just have to look.
