The holding tank gauge on our 280 has never worked. When the tank is empty it reads empty but after using it it will never read 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full. I thought it was time to fix it. Any ideas?

I would first make sure all wiring and connections were ok from float switch(s) to gauge. Then the easy but smelly part, pull the floats, clean or replace. My system has the combined floats, unscrew one big cap and all the floats come out. Some systems have separate floats. Dometic/Sealand has good info at their site. Parts diagrams, etc. Pump and flush it out good before you open it up then you won't faint right away.

Mine was doing the same thing. Filled the holding tank with water after pumping out and watched the tank to ensure not over-filling and damaging the fart filter. Pumped the water out and repeated twice and the gauge started showing "empty", then 1/2 and finally "full - don't flush"!

Without constant use and flushing, the float must get stuck with yuck! :wow:

Scott,

We have empty ,(blank / nothing), ½ full and full. No ¼ full on the gauge.

On my 280 Sundancer, using the deck fitting and back flushing with water from a hose after a pump out:

Empty = empty to about 20 flushes

Blank = about 20 flushes to ¾ full

½ = ¾ full to overflowing up the vent tube.

Full never appears, even with water overflowing out the deck fitting.

Hope this helps.

Google "tank tender", an easy quick fix.
