hitches,load ratings

Just got this boat & trailer. I have a class III hitch (5000# max weight carrying), 2" ball rated at 6000#. I estimate the boat at 3900 lbs and according to Venture, the trailer weighs 985 lbs. I towed it over the wknd this way but I'm thinking that I should upgrade to a class IV hitch since I'm probably over 5000 lbs with fuel,gear,etc. Any ideas ?
