Hit a log - Insurance Claim??

So the boat is not going into gear on the side we hit the log. We launched and it did not go into gear right away. After a minute or so, we heard a big KLUNK and it stalled the motor. Restarted the motor and everything ran fine back to the dock. Went to leave on Saturday and it would not go into gear again. Mechanic stopped today and cannot find anything wrong. Now he needs to pull the motor/trans so he can figure it out. Seems I have bigger problems. Great...
