Last Friday coming in just before sunset heard something hit the hull a couple seconds later transom started vibrating slowed down took a look couldn't see anything. Got going again couldn't get over 1800 rpm without it shaking the transom to the point of feeling like it would come apart. Had the boat hauled out Tuesday 1 destroyed prop that didn't look that bad definitely a couple bent bent blades, 1 bent trim tab and transom mounted transducer is broken. I've hit a few logs before that sounded worse than this without any damage.

Just before this we had a gust of wind blow the bow into the fuel dock coming into it at about 1 knot the gust turned the boat 90* before I could even react to it, heard a loud crack when it hit. There's a couple big marks where it hit dead center on the bow with about a 3" long crack in the gelcoat, marina says this might be worse than it looks they won't know till they start grinding away at it to see how long and deep it is. I had the boat scheduled to come out Monday anyway for drive paint & anodes, anodes are doing there job 1 year old the 2 ram anodes were half gone.

Insurance adjuster will be at the marina today, first claim in 6 years with this boat there goes my 0 deductible. Looks like it will be till at least late next week before were back in the water.

Good news bilge is still bone dry & the boat gets a full detail before going back in.

Sounds like a pretty bad day. At least it was just the boat damaged and all on board are fine! I hit a submerged log about 1 1/2 years ago at 20knots that heaved the boat what felt like a foot. First contact pushes the object down then it floats back up and catches the running gear. Horrible sound when props at 2400 RPM hit something. I was lucky and just needed my props tweaked a bit by our local prop scan guy. Another boat unit plus 3 more on other items since it was out of the water already...

Good luck with your insurance and make sure the damage is repaired expertly before accepting it!

Bob, that really sucks. When I had Beachcomber's props redone after I found some skinny water I used Krueger in Seattle. They're right up there on the south side of the ship canal near where all those fishing boats are docked. They're not cheap but they did a nice job on them.

Good luck with your insurance company.

Sorry to hear.... Who are you using to do the repair work ?

Having it done at Modutech they've done good work for myself & a few others I know, plus I get a discount for mooring there.

Tacoma Propeller is doing the prop Krueger only does larger props, their the same company 2 locations.

Did that last year but it was a 12x12x9foot long rail road tie.
Cost my insurance company 12k and me 10 days off the water.
I feel your pain

I found out about Tacoma Prop & Krueger this spring when I was not happy with $550 per prop Tacoma was charging so I called Krueger and they told they are the same company. I drive past Modutech 2x per week to get the Hylebos Marina where I keep mine. I'll keep an eye out for you Bob...

My boat is the first one on stands next to the gate coming from Browns Point.

Look for a Red Cadillac ATS in the lot.

What do you drive I go by your marina several times a week.

I'll pm my cell# to ya.

Bush league.

Try 34 months and two weeks out of the water, followed by a flunked survey AND cancelled insurance. For us old farts, that's a tad longer than JFK was in office and for you younger up and comers, just a tad shy of how long it took to build Tiger Woods yacht Privacy.

Yeah...... I got had REAL bad. I figure I've been fed all but about two teaspoons of bullsh!t shy of being able to run the cattle operation for the King Ranch.

Want the name of who NOT to use.... Or if your ex has really pissed you off.....who to tell TO use?

Give me a call.

Mind me asking what took that long out of the water? What caused a failed survey? Almost enough to rethink boating that sucks.

Yah they can build 3 cruise ships in that length of time.

Received a call from the insurance surveyor at 4:30 today all repairs are covered the marina should have the final approval paper work by Monday morning. If all goes well should be back in the water by next Friday. Excellent customer service from my insurer made everything easy and fast.

Congrats, that is great service!

That is very good news. Now let's hope they can stick to their time table. You will be back on the water before you know it.

Bob,
Glad to hear it's going so smoothly. May I ask who your insurer is? I'm going to be dumping allstate when my policy is up & need to start shopping. Best of luck with the repairs!

Todd,
I use Norman-Spencer a Marine Broker formerly Westmar my policy is under written by State National. I was covered with American Family but they dropped boats over 25' 2 years ago. My first claim in 6 years with this boat I've paid for all my mistakes out of pocket prior to this.

Norman Spencer 1-800-252-9597 I couldn't be happier with them the claim was approved within 24 hours of the boat being blocked up. They used a local surveyor MICHEL & CHRISTEN MARINE SURVEYORS, INC. for the survey.

Thanks Bob! I will be giving them a call. Do you know if they cover the east coast as well?

I'll compose a synopsis and send it to you via email or PM. Should you want to go beyond that, so be it. On advice, as long as I do not stray from the FACTS, all is well. Am I going out on a limb? Absolutely. However, there comes a time in life when things cannot be brushed aside due to embarrassment.
