Hilton Head to St Augustine - Offshore newbie questions

Fernandina is a great place, lots of good places to eat and drink. Nice ride to St Augustine by waterway from there, Enjoy

Sounds like an awesome trip so far. Any surprises?
only that I found out the hard way I gotta toss my 1100 hour Walker airsep filters and get new ones. I was supposed to replace them at 1000 hours. Other than that, the ocean was nice and calm until we got near Florida. Then it only rolled 2' max.

Trying to upload pics but I am getting a upload error using Tapatalk.

We are now tied to our mooring at the St Augustine City Marina. My slip isn't available until noon tomorrow. So looks like I am running the generator for the next 20 hours. My crew was great on this trip.

I am in my slip. The tricky approach just before the Bridge of Lions went just fine and I fit under the bridge without needing them to open it. There was 23' of clearance. Tying to the mooring yesterday was a chore. Strong current and wind. Docking was super easy today. It was just before slack tide and the slip was plenty wide for me. And Richie89, I did it with no bow thruster.

There is a 58 Sedan Bridge, a 420 Sedan Bridge, a 450 Sedan bridge and a 390 Motor Yacht all on my dock. They all look pristine.

Thanks for everyone's help. Heading back home Feb 1.

Headed back to Beaufort this morning after a wonderful month in St. Augustine. Of course, now I am broke. Took the ICW (offshore was too perilous for me today) and made it to Golden Isles Morningstar Marina in about 8.5 hours, including a 45 minute stop and Fernandina for fuel and lunch. A wonderful captain saved my bacon at marker number 19 on Jeykll Creek. Even though I followed the online tips I still managed to be too far west. At about 2.5 feet under the transducer, she hailed me and said to immediately turn and aim for her as she was in 10 feet of water. Interesting thing is she was no more than 100 yards from me. Other than that - nice ride. The plastic wrapper around the bridge made for a great greenhouse during this cold ride.

Back in my home port now. 118 miles offshore today in just under 5 hours including docking and trolling time. Couldn't go ICW as I would have been at Hell's Gate at low tide. Didn't want to anyway. The morning was a good window for offshore. Leaked fuel out of one of my injectors during the run today (although engine ran and performed great the entire time). Hopefully its just the injector fuel line fitting vibrated loose. Over and out on this one. Thanks to all that helped me prepare.

Morningstar Marina, I'm there every day. Let me know the next time you are headed down this way. Yes Jekyll Creek is one you have to be exact on for sure, not a lot of room for error there.
