Highfield… any regrets?

WHEN IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE........

Well, they made a mistake.....

BIG SURPRISE

Boat & motor NOW $9,500.00

or boat only $5,800.00

I can buy the 25 Yamaha separate for $3,830.00

or the 20 Yamaha (same weight and displacement) for $3,610.00

So...........

Should I jump on this now or wait?

I just realized you’re likely looking at a hypalon, right? That’s not a bad deal for a hypalon imo

My pvc 310CL was $4,088+tax

In March of 2022 I paid $3897 for the PVC CL310 and $3229 for the 20 HP Suzuki (tiller) and there was limited stock because of Covid. You can thank the current administration for the drastic increase in costs today.

Well, I'm committed... OR OUGHT TO BE !!!

Highfield 310 CL & Tohatsu 20 HP Electric start in white.

Includes:

electric start
battery
hypalon
all around/nav light (likely just all around light)
tube mounted bowstep/cleat combo (standard equipment)
additional seat (dealer throw in)
bimini (dealer throw in)
dink will be serviced, checked out and splash ready

Got to go to Ft Lauderdale for pick up when the special order (white) Tohatsu comes in

Going to have a piling mounted swing lift installed at the home dock and will keep the dink covered.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO INFLUENCED MY DECISION AND COST ME SOME MONEY

But seriously, I do appreciate all the comments.

I have dun lernt a great deal here on CSR.

So.......

My plan is to rent a 6' x 12' U-haul open trailer, line it with a couple of old mattress pads, bring ratchet straps, tilt the motor up and haul a$$.

Will dump it in the water right out of the u-haul at the local ramp, run it home, then quarter car wash the u-haul before returning it.

Does this sound like a plan ?

Congrats you will like the 310CL and the power of the 20 HP.

I'm not sure how long your trip is, but a small transom saver may be in order.

One universal word of caution is that the outboard's tilt bracket is designed to support the motor during maintenance or storage only and should never be used when trailering.

Won't have it till the white Tohatsu arrives.

$9,450 including allt the dealer throw-ins

I figured these are NOT GOING TO GO DOWN in price anytime soon, and I'm too old to keep foolin with the previous system I saved from the 10 meter.

Will wash the U-Haul to get the brackish/saltwater off.

Just a conscience thing.....

So does the U-Haul choice seem like a good plan ?

Trailer is 12' long

Perhaps after setting the dink inside, I'll release the tilt and let the lower unit rest on the mattress pad/trailer base?

You will be uhaul customer of the month if you wash the salt water off

Two guys should be able to carry the dinghy off the uhaul on a ramp into the water

I rented the same trailer because I was bringing it back over salt covered roads in February. Fit in there with plenty of room to spare.

I’d just take the engine off and lay it down inside whatever vehicle you are pulling it with. They’re designed to lay on one side without the oil draining out then you don’t need to worry about banging up the nice white finish. Super simple to re-mount once you get it to the water

Do I get a prize?

Or at least a kiss from the cute girl at the counter?

Bet I'm not the first.....

An additional motivation to the electric start w/battery was to add a small, self contained bilge pump on the base as intended by the factory.

Anyone done this?

In this application, volume not really an issue. Maybe a small diaphragm pump with a debris screen would get more water out?

Mine has a factory mounted bilge pump. It's a small Rule and has no float switch, only a switch at the helm. It's quite nice for those few times you might find yourself launching the dink without the drain plug installed :)

I dont know what kind of UHaul place you are going to but there are no cute girls behind the counter at any place I have seen

My only issue with the bilge mount on the Highfield is you just have to run the hose up and over the transom which will not be the most elegant install.

I don’t have one, I just pull the plug and let the one way valve drain out while getting on plane. It drains the boat really quickly

You could drill a hole in the transom and use a cheapo plastic thru-hull:
