I've read one too many stories about AC Lines, Fittings or Pumps flooing or skining boats and got to thinking.

Why isn't the high water alarm(s) tied to a latching relay that kills the AC pump?

Most of us leave our units in humidity control mode while away, meaning the pump will run!

I'd much rather come back to a humid boat than a sunk one!

Well if an AC line fails it will fill the boat with water. If the bildge pumps fail or can't keep up it will eventually trip the high water alarm. I think it would be wise to stop the AC pump if the water in the bildge were that high.

The A/C pump is 120V, the bilge pump is 12V................

I didn’t realize that. I thought they were 12v. Are we talking about the raw water pump in the bilge that cools the AC compressor?

Yeah the AC pump is usually 120v. It wouldn't be hard to switch off a 120v or 240v line via a 12v signal...

As an ME/AE graduate, I can assure you, I HATED EE courses, but I bet you could easily set up a 12v DC relay that would interrupt a 120v AC circuit when it (the 12v circuit) was activated....
