It's been a week now since a young man, a student at Marysville Pilchuck High school, met his friends (all 14 years old) at the lunch table, pulled gun and shot his 5 friends at point blank range. He then turned the gun on himself. One victim, Zoe Galasso + the shooter, Jaylen Fryberg laid dead and 4 of the friends including two relatives, Gia Soriano, Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, Andrew Fryberg and Nate Hatch were rushed to two local trama centers. During this week, Gia passed away; I believe it was Tuesday. Last night, they announced Shaylee passed away from so much head trauma. Andrew is still in critical condition and the prognosis I'm hearing is not good. Nate is the only one I've heard will survive for sure.

The impact and tragic loss felt in my town was huge. My kids, 12 yo twins went to school with Gia of them last year and as the details emerged, we have many friends that are friends with the victims families. I'm glad it wasn't closer to our family, but it has hit this small town pretty hard. We went to the School Monday to place flowers on the memorial fence outside the campus. As we walked along the fence reading signs and seeing the display of love pouring out from our town, I was compelled to take pictures and put a small memorial video together. Today we are doing a cancer fighting fundraiser, but we'll have a moment of silence for this tragedy and all involved.
If you have kids, go hug them.

well put together memorial video Todd. School shootings are especially emotional because it makes everyone think "what if it were my kids", something I never understood til I had my own children.

Todd, just had a moment of silence myself in honor of the victims. Our prayers and support go to the families and friends. Sorry to hear your little one have to go through this loss. I'm sure you will have the right words when they start asking question about the day.

God bless my friend and God bless the teacher who stood in the gap and possibly saved lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and City of Marysville. We were residents of Marysville until recently and our youngest son attended Marysville-Pilchuck having graduated last year. As parents we ask ourselves what would drive a young person to take such a path? Marysville is a strong community and over time the wounds will heal, but the memory of this event will always be etched in the people of the city.

I don't think we'll ever understand the "WHY" behind things like this. A popular, well liked young man takes his dad's gun to school, invites his friends to meet him at the lunch table, then he shoots them.

I'm just sitting here shaking my head over it all. None of us has answers, but we do have prayers to share.

A tragedy beyond comprehension, thoughts and prayers for all.

Todd - Being from the Seattle area I have followed this story closely. It was very cool to see that the Seattle Seahawks invited the Marysvill-Pilchuck football team to their practice facility last week. I watched the video on the story and thought that it was a really cool respite for the team to get away from everything for a few hours.

I am just overwhelmed, such a tragic loss of such young lives

Thanks all. Yeah we still have a numbness I think over the city, but everyone is being supportive the community and each other.
