Want to get a couple this year for my SeaRay , Bout need to make payments on a Yeti .There was a youTube video testing 5 of the top Coolers . Engel was the winner but the Coleman Extreme was best for the buck. I'm leaning toward the Engel unless someone here changes my mind . Any takers ?

Bought a Coleman X-Treme last year after reading reviews. I have to say for the $ the Coleman Cooler performs wonderfully. $70 for the Coleman - $379 for the Yeti - Would buy another Coleman in a heartbeat.

I can give you my experience on all 3. I used my Coleman Exteme for 8 years. At year 6 she started to loose her seal and would not hold ice all day. I bought a 65 qt Engel 2 years ago and love it. One thing to consider is it is a heavy son of a gun when loaded. Heck, it's not light when it's empty either. It's really a great cooler. I also bought a 20qt Yeti for the car for trips. The look of the Yeti is much nicer. The Yeti and the Engel are definately premium products that will last a long time. However, dollar for dollar, it is hard to beat the Coleman Extreme.

I have a 65quart Engel and tell you that it is money well spent! It can keep beers cold for days in the hot Florida summers! I was tired of dealing with "Igloo Marine Elite" that would break and barely keep ice for a day. Get an Engel or a Yeti and be done.

Had an Igloo, did fine for years, it finally split. Bought a Yeti, ouch. My opinion, not worth the extra for the Yeti. Of course ours is opened and closed an awful lot, so all will loose ice when doing that.

so, did the Coleman perform as good as the Engel for the first 5 years? if so, you could buy a new Coleman every five years and be ahead of the game for life (assuming you need to replace the Engel every 10-15 years)

I don't care what cooler you have, if you open it constantly to get beer like we do on our boat, it doesn't matter who makes the cooler. I have a cheap igloo 150 qt from BJs and it has left Ice for 3 days in a Georgia summer. I'll keep buying $50 coolers when they go on sale.

I keep eying the Igloo Yukon series.

The best cooler I ever had was a Coleman steel with a latch down lid. It kept ice for days inbetween the seats of a bowrider I owned years ago. It was only covered with a beach towel and sat in the sun most of the time. I have never owned a high end cooler and cannot attest to the quality of the Coleman today. Mine looked like this

but was steel belted on all six sides.
