Just took delivery of a new, last year model 2012 260 Sundeck. We spend part of the year on Lido Key, near Sarasota. I was only able to use it for the better part of last week before we had to leave.
I was told that there are two types of boaters in Florida, those who run aground and those who lie about it and say they don't run aground. It only took me a couple of days to learn that I am the first type of boater! Nothing serious, able to float off the bar but I now have that out of the way!

You are going to love it. Remember if you run aground trim up the motor and push it off. Have seen many friends suck up sand and ruin the water pump and clog up the coolers. We love our 260 sundeck

Lol, I found out I'm the same type of boater the 2nd time out on the boat. Went from 30mph to 0 in soft mud bottom at the south end of Lake George on the St John's. Stepped out in shin deep water and pushed it back into the channel, hopped in and took off again. :)

Lidokey,

Welcome to CSR! Congrats on the new boat & best of luck with it! We all have spent some unscheduled down time on a sandbar or two! A good GPS should help you avoid that in the future!!

Congratulations on the new purchase! I hit a sandbar on my first trip out of the marina at Catawba Island Lake Erie with my brand new 240. That was 12 years ago but I still haven't been able to kick the habit..lol. Enjoy the new ride!

Welcome aboard

Already done that with the Chris Craft. Hopefully it won't happen again with the Sea Ray

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to CSR! We boat in the same area and know what you mean it's very shallow, you really have to watch out. Shiney skegs abound everywhere here, so you're in good company:)
