Hi from Vancouver Island

Thought I'd write a few lines to introduce myself. Live in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island's east coast. Been boating the area since I was a kid, but almost exclusively recreational fishing. Now with two young boys (1 and 3) my wife and I have taken up pleasure boating an purchased our first 'cruiser' earlier this year.
Spent most weekends on the water this summer cruising the Gulf Islands with two other couples and their kids. A 4 day trip to Friday Harbour and Rosario was the highlight of our summer.
Next summer's plans include Desolation Sound.
If you need any info on the Gulf Islands and area, let me know and I'll try to help out.
I'll post some pictures of our summer when I get a chance.

Dan, you live in an area that makes many of us jealous. I've boated in the San Juans and CA waters once and can't wait to get back. I'd love to see pics of you and your family on the boat.

We may head that direction next summer. We're in the initial stages of trip planning, but not sure at this point if we'll be able to pull it off.

Hey Dan welcome to CSR.
I grew up just north of you in Comox. Spent alot of time fishing there as a kid. First sports fishing and then one summer as a deck hand on my dads comercial boat.
Currently living in Calgary but haul the boat back to the island every summer to spend 3 weeks out there. Desolation sound and the gulf islands have to be among the best places in the world to cruise in. You'll find desolation sound a lot less developed than the gulf islands but it still has everything you need.

I get to fly a Twin Otter on floats occasionally from Vancouver to Stuart Island north of Campbell River. Beautiful area you are in.
