Hey Guys I have one question to ask

Hey, if he owns TWO big Bayliners......ya gotta admire a guy who owns his own 'spares' boat...

J/K - any source of reliable information should be welcome on ANY forum !

Well thanks guys. I hope you don't hold it against me I know Wayne.
Actually I have owned 3 Sea Rays. A 22', 24', and a 16' Jet.
I won't tell you a Bayliner is better if you promise not to tell me its not. :smt001
I enjoy talking boats and learning. I also enjoy passing on what I have learned. A lot of it the hard (and expensive) way.
I do my own maintenance and always have.
Btw, I have two Cummins diesels and changed the plugs in both.
I thought they were injectors so I all ready learned something here.
My experience is in fresh water both in Michigan and Florida.
I only boat the St Johns River in Florida and trailer our 28' with a 10' beam.
We live aboard our 38' in Michigan for the short season in Upper Michigan. 90 days last year and all at anchor as we have for almost the 25 years I have been retired.
Actually almost all of our boating in the North is in Canada. We spend the season in the North Channel of Lake Huron and in Georgian Bay.
I am not that old, just retired young. Well OK I am old but still able to function. No secret, 73 years old.
Boating is boating no matter the hull under you so I hope I will be able to contribute something as well as to learn.
I have owned many boats over the year and counting dinghies 6 at the present time. One is an airboat with a 502 hp Chev. engine. My go fast.
We owned a 46' Chris Craft for about 22 years.
We tow a 16.5 Sea Nymph with a 90 Etec Evinrude behind our 38 Bay.
I guess you can say boating is an important part of my life and has been for about 55 years.
We also do a bit of rv'ing between seasons.
I guess that is my life's story in a nutshell.
Thanks for the invite.
Doug

Welcome Doug.
I just checked the outbox, and it looks like it didn't go through. Essentially I said you'll be fine and think you'll enjoy it here.

Doug,

Welocome! I'm a newbie on CSR myself, and look forward to the knowledge and war stories you can share.

Welcome. I like Bayliner guys. I've learned a lot of shortcuts from them. (Harsh, but fun.)

Hey, I'm digging the Coastie boat. Kinda reminds me of 41357 out of Marblehead.

I grew up in East Tawas which is why I asked... was wondering if you could find my old girlfriend and show the bitch a picture of my boat... guess not.

We used to boat out of Bay Port on Saginaw Bay. Spent a few nights in East Tawas. Some of them darn rough as the docks were not all as protected from the open lake as they are now.

I actually lived there before they built that big concrete dock/breakwater section of the East Tawas docks. That new section went up the year I left town (and never went back). If you remember the bait shop at the foot of the dock, I was the kid stuffing nightcrawlers in the styrofoam cups in the morning... and then flipped burgers in a restaurant in town...

That is COLD water up there....

Small world, eh?
That cold water comes from really cold water. I now live on that really cold water. In the summer.:smt001
I took a quick trip up there before Christmas to take a tractor up I bought in Fla.
There was 3 feet of snow in my driveway.

Welcome Doug (in spite of the fact you know Wayne). Gary did you wash your hands in-between worms and burgers??

Hey Doug !!. WELCOME TO CSR.. I got your email that was funny.

Welcome Don. I've been a member for awhile and really enjoy the site. I don't own a SR either (although have owned a couple over the years). Boat in the summer on Northen Lk MI mostly. Over the years have spent a lot of time in the North Channel. Two favorite ports on the Lakes are Killarney and Tobermory.

Gee! i thought i was the oldest.....at 72 years never old, just matured.... Glad your here

Welcome Doug; I've heard really good things about the Bayliner motor yachts and I completely agree with your point about boating being boating no matter the hull.

The most problematic part of most Sea Rays and Bayliners are all those Mercruisers, so how different are the boats anyway?
