Ok here is my issue. I have a 06 340DA and installed a brand new Simrad 4G system. I am getting interference with the radar. So after a whole bunch of troubleshooting here is where I am at. The moment I turn on the key or push my starter switch one click I get the interference and it continues once you start the motors. I have ruled out the boats electrical system buy running all 3 power and grounds to a separate battery that I brought aboard for testing and fused everything. I also ruled out the radar cable as I pulled it completely so its not running near anything with electricity in it. So there must be something that when you push the starter button one click that starts to emit some sort of RF that the radar picks up. I disconnected the fuel pump so that wont start and still it persists. Can anyone tell me what is powered up once the start button is pushed? There must be something getting power that is sending out the stray signal and I need to figure out what it is. Been working on this for a while and its driving me nuts. Top pic is start button one click bottom is off.

A poor man's spectrum analyzer is an AM radio. This may not help but in case you have not thought of it take a clock radio tune to an off signal frequency and move it arround the engine compartment and areas in the boat and listen for noise changes. this may identify the source of the noise.

I get noise on my VHF radio when i am on shore power and the battery chargers are on.

It looks like you have done a good job of isolating the power but a ferrite choke on the input power to the radar module and antenna might help. Make sure you loop one side of the power preferably the plus side through the loop. Radio shack has quite a few selections you will need to go to the electronics bins.

I also have used an IR extender to locate the source of noise in my home electronics. The IR receiver led will flash when located near a noise source.

I assume you have adjusted the sensitivity settings. I have contacted SIMRAD about compatibility options for an upgrade i am planning and they are very quick to respond. go to the web site and submit your problem symptoms and they will get back to you.

I have found it my tachometers. If I unplug them the interference goes away. Going to call VDO and see if this has even been an issue.

So took my mercury system view off the boat today and plugged it into my buddies boat with same simrad system and sure enough he got the interference. Took his to mine and interference was gone. The system view is what sends the data to the tachs and whats causing the issue. Going to call Merc on Monday but does anyone know if the vessel view will work in place of the system view I have? Cant find a used system view anywhere.

Vessel view is a upgrade to system view. I changed to vessel view on my 05 sundancer 340 not very hard to do. All wiring is done at the helm and it's all plugs no fess work. Really is a BIG improvement! Someone here listed the step by step procedure.

get a bunch of clamp on ferrite beads and start putting them on all wires going to your vessel view and radar.

I hope it's all right to reopen this old thread, because I'm having the same problem.

I'm not sure if timemachine resolved the issue by installing mercury vessel view or if there is another solution?

Thanks
