I currently have a Load Rite Aluminum I-beam trailer for my 240 Sundancer. The trailer originally came with four LoadStar 225/75R15 tires on basic galvanized wheels. The tires have been great and the wear, I believe, has been excellent given about 10K in highway mileage and another 5K of local driving on back roads. Total 15K - they are not shot at all but the shoulders are wearing from tight turns with tandom axles.

I would like to change the wheels along with some new tires. I'd want to get something more exciting than the ugly galvanized rims. I dunk and puck in saltwater water each weekend all summer long.

Are chrome or aluminum rims a good idea? While they could be a little fancier, I don't want them looking shot after a couple of seasons.

What rims are most of you using in saltwater?

Any link to sites for rims would also be helpful?

Thanks,

tginz

The chrome wheels will rust; even after a hose down. Mine did. They are made in Mexico usually and have low quality chrome to begin with.

As for the aluminum, I think as long as the clear coat is intact, they will not corrode.

Then again, who know how good the clear coat is...
