I have one more issue that you can help with please.

on my 1991 Sea Ray 280 weekender there is a cabin entry hatch comp (viplex)

There is a key push lock.

I lost my key and no one seems to have a blank that will fit.

I went to Sea Ray in Pompano but to no avail.

There is the number 773 imprinted on the back of the lock.

Can anyone advise of a part # or manufacturer or can you sell me a new lock assembly.

I have good luck going to Marine Max, sounds like you have already been down that path.

Got caught last year, needed another key when I was in FL. First locksmith I called around Port Everglades area had all the blanks for Marine locks. I guess locksmiths around there do a lot of work around boats. The locks are not Sea Ray only - but are OEM.

Sorry, don't remember the specific locksmith name - but given you are in S Fl, don't think it would be hard to find.

I had to replace the cabin door lock when I first bought my boat.....I found a new lock at Flounder Pounder Marine....it was a perfect fit...during my research I discovered that only a handful of different versions of the locks and keys were made and in many cases one key would open almost all of the different locks with a little finessing.....this is a little disturbing if true.....

its very true. My key code happens to be the universal key, I've tested it on many of my friends boats. It's come in handy too when a friend needs someone to turn something on or off in their boat and I'm at the marina with my key...

Locks only keep honest people out. If a real thief wants in your boat do you really think that cabin door lock will keep them out ? And they usually could care less as to how much damage they do to your boat. Just saying.

Wholly agree. Just wanted people to be very aware this is true and don't trust the locks with valuables.
