Gents,

I am trying to mount speakers on my wake board tower. I am trying to run the speaker wires down the strut that mounts the tower to the boat. On the front mount on the port side a huge allen head bolt mounts the strut to the hull. I want to un bolt this so I can drill a hole to mount pass through the speaker wire. Issue is how in the heck do you get a hold of the bolt that under the hole? I have no idea how they do this during production? I was thinking if I removed the head unit for the stereo I might be able to get a hold of it. Suggestions?

Scott....

Before you start tearing everything apart.....

How many speakers are you going to mount on the tower?

Your probably asking yourself, " What does that matter? How many many speakers I'm putting on the tower?" Just follow me on this one.....

What size speaker wire are you going to be using? This all plays a huge part in the direction your trying to go..... I tried the same thing when mounting my speakers and running them to the front of the tower... To the front where the huge allen bolt connects the tower to the top-side of the deck.... I mounted 4 tower speakers... I used 16 gauge speaker wire.... That means I had 8-16 gauge wires to run thru a pretty small hole.... it's not going to work.

I then went the other direction, and I was going to go thru the backfoot of the tower (where it attaches to the side of the boat).... I removed the back speaker (so I would have access to the foot from inside the boat and started drilling into the back side of the tower foot...Does that make sense?) Shortly after I started drilling I ran into another problem.... The feet on all four corners of the tower are solid lugs of aluminum! I couldn't go that way either!

If your boat is anything like mine, on the drivers side, where the tower folds, there's probably a wire coming through the tower.... That's for your anchor light on the top of the tower... I copied what they (SeaRay) had done on the opposite side. I drilled 2 holes... One beneath where the tower folds and one towards the rear foot... I ran the wires in one and out the other....

I hope this makes sense.... I'm PM'ing you my cell number... Call me and I'll see if i can't explain it a little better!

Don't pull the head unit out.... You still won't be able to get to anything!

Okay I got ya.. can you take a picture on where the the wire comes out on the rear foot? I see in one of your pics you have it on the window running down. It sounds like you have changed that a bit. Can you take a picture for me?

I can take a pic, but it will be a few days.... I don't keep the boat at home (I wish I did!) It's at the storage and it will be a couple of days before i get back up that way....

From what I am understanding, you ran the speaking wiring on the port side which you copied from the starboard side.

Did the wiring go into the the rear foot or the front foot? Was there a hole at the very end of teh foot? If not, where did the wiring go into the hull at?
