This is my second season running my boat. Just about have all the kinks out, I hope. I was wondering, I am trying to flush my water system out. I have my boat in my driveway, waxing cleaning etc., I tried to flush out the fresh water system and it ran for a bit and stopped. When I say "fresh water" I mean my sink, shower, But I guess you guys know that. My boat is hooked up to my home power and all is running, except the water. I filled the tank and just want to get it clean!
Anyone?

"What a long strange trip it's been"

Is the water system pump switch turned on? On mine, there is a switch at the helm to turn on the water.

You say, "it ran for a bit & stopped". I'm going to guess that "a bit" is longer than just a second or two, and that the pump stopped running too, not just the flow of water. So if that is the case maybe you popped a fuse. Make sure the switch(es) are on & open up the galley faucet. Listen for the pump to kick on & go from there.

ps... Once you get it back up & running you can dump "a splash" of Clorox in the tank & run that thru all the pipes. Flush that out with a tank of plain water & you are good to go!

Hi guys. Thanks for all the quick replies! I will be checking that as soon as I get home from my 3 day "tour" ( work ). I will be back to let you know.

Tell us what you mean by ‘it stopped.’

What stopped? The water flow stopped but the pump was running? The pump shut off?

Stopped flow could be a clogged filter. A stopped pump could be as simple as a blown fuse.

Fresh water pumps are pretty noisey when they run. If you don't hear noise either the pump is dead or it isn't getting power. If the pump is running and no water is coming out, maybe your tank is empty. If it runs for a while and then stops working even though the faucet is open, feel the pump motor to see if it seems hotter than it ought to be.

If the breaker isn't popped, check for 12v at the pump with a meter. If there's 12v there, the pump is bad. Not that hard or that expensive to replace.
Good Luck.

Well, it ran for about 10 minutes. The water was flowing. The tank is full. You are correct, Rondds, I did not hear the pump going. I checked the fuse and it was fine. At work right now, and will be checking when I get home.
Thanks guys,
Joey

If you do have power @ the pump, check to see if your particular pump has a presure sensor on it. I guess it is possible that it may have "fallen out of adjustment". If the screen/filter is clogged I guess you could have heated up the motor. The system is pretty simple. Keep plugging away, you'll get it.
