I have been fighting oil filter issues and I am trying to get this all figured out.
I have a remote oil filter and I have had problems getting the filter off and on. It just doesn't thread on very smoothly and has gotten worse. It has gotten to the point that yesterday when changing my oil I could not get the filter off at all. I broke a filter wrench trying to do so.
I decided that I need to replace the flange that the filter mounts on. After disassembling it I realized that the fitting itself (where the filter threads on to) is actually replaceable. I finally got the filter off by removing the fitting from the flange, which also unthreads the filter.
The fitting had bad threads on it and I am not sure if it was crossed threaded at one time or an incorrect filter but was forced on?? I couldn't even thread the fitting off the flange until I cleaned the threads up. It looked really bad and now after some thread filing it has flat spots on it.
So now after I cleaned the threads up, the fitting threads off and on the flange real nice but I still can't get the filter to start going on (and I don't want to force it).
So, I want to replace the fitting (because it still looks pretty bad) and I want to verify that I am using the correct filters.
(Another minor issue...
I have a 5.0L engine that I thought was a MPI engine. But the shroud on the intake says it is an EFI Electronic Ignition??)
Anyway, When I look up the remote oil filter fitting for a MPI or EFI it doesn't look like what I have. the link below is the closet thing I found but it is for a carb engine??? The fitting I think I need is key #2 (22-806328) but I am not sure...

The filter I have been using is 35-866340K01
Engine Serial Number is OL380364.
I know this should be simple but this has been a real pain and now the boat is out of commission until I can get all the correct parts and put it all back together.
I was hoping someone could verify the correct part number for the fitting and make sure I have been using the correct filters.
Thanks for any help...
