Unidentified as of yet
We just picked up our new winter project. :smt038 It's a 1972 Weekender SRV24. :wow: We know it's a boat, we know it has a motor, we know it goes in the water, :smt017we think it will float, we hope it will run, we know it needs a lot of woodwork, carpet and vinyl replacement.:wow: Other than that......WE DON'T KNOW MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes....

All kidding aside, we know more than that, but it is our first boat with some previous experience on the water. We need an owners manual and general help on the specifics of the boat and how some things work.:smt089

Can't wait to meet our new best friends on here that can help. :smt024

Thanks in Advance! It won't be long before she starts doing this to me! :smt014 or this :smt021 .............:smt100

post pics of your progress....always interesting to see...welcome

ah grasshopper. first off. what model outdrive is it? A(i'm assuming, and praying it's a mercruiser. not to trash omc, mercs are eaiser to get parts for is all).

next how is the deck (floor...it's actually deck, but one step at a time) if it is "soft", it's aproblem. the stringers and transom are also issues.

do not, repeat, DO NOT run the engine out of water...ever for any reason, for over 1/100 of a second. if you do, you will cook the impeller in the water pump.

buy a manual for the drive you own (let's be honest, buy the one printed by the manufacturer mercruiser or omc....not clymer, not seloc.)

i boats is another site with a lot of info as is the hull truth.
the folks here are pretty sharp too. just have as much info as you can when starting a post. photos help

good luck, take your time. it's a project, not a race!

Thanks to all for the responses. I will begin posting pics as I go. It will be a slow process, but interesting and enjoyable.

Obi-Wan,
First, it is a merc outdrive.
Second, so far as for the "deck" it appears to be firm all over. There is some bad wood in the channel between the engine anf the fuel tank. However, I have not yet gotten into a close inspection.
Three, I have the water hose adapter for that purpose.
Four, any suggestions on where to get any manuals for equipment this age?
Thanks Harry!

Give me a holler if you need help sourcing a good buy on some decent marine carpet for that '72...

Hi just thought I would throw my 2 cents in I would do a good servey of the boat and price every thing out as much as possable and see what you come up with. Rotten wood is hard to tell how far it runs. Projects are fun but some times you can spend more money fixing something up than buying a running boat in good shape especially in todays market.
