help me find my galvanic isolator

Anyone have any clues as to where it might be? I have searched in the engine bay / mechanical and every hatch in the cabin. I know there is a stock unit on the boat somewhere and I suspect it is original and possibly dead. Thx!

In my 1995 290 mine is located behind the shore power panel screwed to the sidewall.
 
Okay heading down to check today... thanks... anyone else switch to the promariner prosafe unit? Any thoughts on that thx

I have a Promariner-two of them actually-which I haven't installed as I'm not sure I need to yet.

Why do you think that yours is bad? They're pretty simple devices and can be tested easily.
 
Still seem to chew through anodes at a high rate. the original charger of that vintage packed it in a season or so ago so just by age and death of anodes would stand to reason the original isolator is toast too. How do you test it?

It could also be a current leak (short) in something else on the boat or a dock neighbor leaking current or the marina leaking current. I wouldn't buy the isolators thinking that is the issue. I just went through this; my port prop was eaten up when we hauled earlier this year and I have an isolation transformer which is more protection than a galvanic isolator. Found my dock neighbors (the Burbs on drugs) had a wiring nightmare going on and tore up all of the boats around them. My transom and trim tab zinc's were gone, completely gone and they were installed less than 9 months before..... Regardless, the marina got them out. So, my lesson learned is I have my mechanic test the water around the boat and will have him test every year. Many marinas will test also. Here is what we found -

I know zip about this but let me tell you. During my overheating saga, when we pulled the outdrive we discovered that the trim limit/gauge wires in the OD were broken off and starting to cause galvanic issues. Fortunately we caught it before any real damage. Just saying.
 
Interesting - believe my mechanic left both trim sensors disconnected in the legs as they need to be replaced and there is no stock on the part here covid delays... so we opted to launching minus them replaced. Could be that is there somewhere else that the gauge feeds could be disconnected inboard to prevent any leaking current?

I don’t know how it works. The guy/ mechanic coated the ends with a black rubbery substance to seal ot
