I live ten minutes from the Tennessee River and am looking at stepping up from older Cuddy Cabins and Bow Riders to a Cruiser and have two local boats I'm considering. One is a 1990 350 Sundancer with 938 hours on twin merc 7.4L vdrives and 1300 on the generator, the other is a 1988 340 Sundancer with about 200 hours on rebuilt twin merc 7.4l vdrives. Asking price for the 350 is $33,395 and the 340 is $29,900. I need to get out to see both boats but wanted to get opinions from the forums on any recommendations - general thoughts on prices for this age boat and any concerns. I'm trying my best to use the search feature to spot potential pitfalls but as the boat range spans two forum sections (89 and older etc) it would be great to have answers in one post. I apologize if this type question has been asked before and will be continuing to view topics I find using the search feature.

For the money I think those newish motors in the 340 add a lot of value. What's the difference in layout between these two boats? You might find that one of the layouts will be far more appealing to you. And does the 340 have a generator?

A good survey will be key. I'd bet moisture will be your biggest enemy.

The 350 is a slightly larger boat at 12.4 feet wide and 1.5 tons heavier than the 340 at 11 feet 11 inches wide. Layouts are similar with respect to sleeping arrangements. The 350 however seems better suited for long periods relaxing on a sofa during inclement weather vs the 340's larger dining table and seating that could hold 4 adults talking over coffee. I've been in three of the late 80s 340 Sundancers and like the table configuration as I'm the kind of person that likes hanging out in the kitchen talking with friends. I've not been in the 350 but plan on doing so this week. I've attached a couple of photos from the sales ads but don't have exactly comparable view points. A nice thing about the 350 is the ice maker in the rear deck seating area. The 350 also has the camper enclosure while the 340 has the

Also...can you explain the "moisture" concern and what I should look for? I did look at a 2000 Doral 300SE last summer that was just a little more expensive but did find mold/mildew under a small hatch in the rear sleeping area.

Thanks for taking the time to provide input...it is appreciated.
