Help - Hatch hinge broken

Hello all

Looking for ideas - broken 1980s style Bowmar low profile hatch hinge (2 1/4 inches long). Weldng shop said no. making a new one can be done, but cost is to high relative to a new hatch. Has anyone run across this problem and found a solution. If so I would be very interested. Called Bowmar and they said short of making a new one or replacing hatch you are out of luck!

FWIW I had to replace a hatch hinge on our Monaro and used a stainless steel one from the building supply store. It was just a small piano hinge and I cut it to length. Epoxied it to the hatch and spent a really long time lining the the whole thing up,,,, but it did work. Good luck. Pics might inspire other ideas?
