For those looking for a great way to help the Haitians in the wake of their catastrophic earthquake, consider a donation to Shelterbox.org.

A Shelter box is a big plastic box containing a tent or tents, water jugs, blankets, ground cloths, tools, cooking utensils, a multi-fuel stove and many other essentials. Each box will provide for a family of 10. The boxes have been well received in disasters worldwide.

Rotary International coordinates the program and has experienced volunteer teams in Haiti to receive and distribute the boxes.

Not all boxes have the same contents in order to avoid unnecessary duplication. Some have just tents inside, for example.

This sounds great Dennis. Thanks for making a thread, I was considering making one last night as well. Just heard unconfirmed reports that friends of ours that are in Haiti on a volunteer program are safe.

The Red Cross is asking for supplies and all, but they are insisting that money is the best thing right now.

If you all have texting, a very easy way to make a contribution is by texting "HAITI" (without the quotation marks of course) to 90999 to make a $10 donation (automatically added to your phone bill).
