I have a 99 290DA and need advise on what to do when having to walk up to the bow. Example being to go up to work the anchor or just to lay out on the front of the boat, its ok if its dry but a little bit of water and off you go into the lake. What can I put on the topside to keep from sliding off or busting my butt again? I know I should wear shoes but not even sure what shoes I should wear. All help is appreciated thanks in advance for your advise.

Two suggestions:

Sperry makes lace up performance shoes for sailing. I crew on a racing sailing boat, so I have them any way. They work well and are non-skid. So I leave a pair in the Sea Ray for cleaning and docking maneuvers.

Hopefully this doesn't sound insulting, but I have noticed that keeping the bow super clean works well. A light coating of dust on the bow makes it so slippery. Our boat is near train tracks and there is a noticeable difference in clean/non-clean traction.

Don’t wax the non-skid with normal wax. Woody’s wax is not as slippery. Or non-skid deck cleaner has a protectant but is not as slippery. I find bare feet are less slippery than shoes of any type. New Sperry’s are pretty good. Worn ones are bad.

I slipped last weekend washing the bow... I went down hard.... my arm pits stopped me from going under the bow rail.... it was a calamity and surprisingly loud .... I got cheers from the guys on the boat hoist a couple hundred yards away :( ....it was too embarrassing and it really hurt.

I don’t think there is a fool proof answer just be careful
