As I prepare for the Bimini trip, I was in the process of changing drive oil when I noticed something not right! The lower swivel pin is missing and the gimball is just "walking' around:huh: I don't think it could have been like this long. After looking closer, I see a chunk out of the bell housing where the exhaust bellows attaches. I have extended Mercruiser warranty, does this look like a covered failure? It never fails to have something go wrong like this at the last minute:smt021 Can anyone guess at what other damage this may have caused?

As I calm down and read the manual, I may not be in as bad shape as first thought. I would like to know how the lower pin "fell" out!

Am I on the "ignore" list or what...lol No one has had this happen before?

It's Sunday! People are boating...ha ha.

I've had those pins out on mine.... but I don't remember how it is held. in place. I need to go look at it.

Did you post this in the wrong section....this is diesel engine forum. Maybe thats why it so quite??

Yes...diesel engines and drives. There is a gas eng and drives forum right above this one

OOPS!! I don't know how I missed that! I must have been sub-consciously thinking of my next boat...lol Thanks for pointing that out.

I just looked at my 96 270. It has a cotter pin holding the swivel pin in.
I have a new pin and cotter pin. I will be installing today. I am very curious how the old one "fell" out!!
