Helm updating???

Has anyone refinished there helm?? My 88 300 has the painted red helm that is faded big time. Looking for some ideas.

If its fiberglass polish or wet sand w/ 1000 grit and wax.

If wood, polish or refinish as usual.

look at the photos in my album of my 225cc, i used the fabric they used on auto tops, the new stuff is uv treated and won't fade and hold up great, take a look and tell me what you think?????/ rob
