Hi guys, I just registered. I am not yet a sea ray owner, but I'm looking at a 270 sun dancer. I joined your group to learn more about this boat. Its strength and witnesses. Right now the owner tells me that he is waiting for a gasket for the starboard engine. Once fixed, he will take me on a sea trial.

What concerns me is that he is not sure what year it is, he tells me probably late 90's. He tells me the engines had 50 hours on them when he bought it from the previous owner. He put another 20 hours on them till the starboard engine showed oil and water mixing. He had i worked on.

There is another sea ray a 280 in our city that is also awaiting to be repowered. Plus a 21 bow rider that got a new engine this year too. Are sea ray engines prone to trouble when used in saltwater only? Thanks.

The 280 is a great boat for twins....the 270 is a bit tight for them. I'm not a big V6 fan only because I know the 350's are bulletproof motors. The 270 will be easier to trailer but not much of a difference, Mike.

I have a 2006 270 Amberjack, It's layout meets the best of both worlds, the guys can fish, ( built in bait tank & fish ), clean up and the ladies and come aboard in confort.

It's not sea ray it's mercruiser and usuallay engine issues are from lack of proper maintenance before you buy you need to get a survey and maintenance records good luck

Get the HIN (hull identification number) and you can tell what year it is. Look under customer support on the searay.com website for the owners manual and sales brochure. I have a 1990 model and love the layout.
