We are hoping to check out the new marina at Middle Bass. Any word on when they will open or if they will have power and water available yet? And yes Rollercoastr we were at the sandbar. Very frequent hangout. We are at Dock of the Bay. How far is Mac Ray by boat? Would love to take a trip up there. Thanx

The last I heard, Middle Bass docks won't have power for most of season. I don't understand that - they had power there before. Maybe they just don't enough to cover all the docks?
MacRay is 100 statute miles from Sandusky. It's a nice trip, and a great facility.

Since you reminded me I looked at the site http://www.mbiyc.com/ and they have a nice pic of the marina with updated info. Looks alot different but should be nice. June 15 is the scheduled date to open and may have temp power til july? Very nice 40 by the way.

Docks should be in by the FIrst of June. The entire old basin is gone so new water and Electric have to be layed. The ferry is running so hopefully equipment will be on the Island soon. THey will have temporary bathroom facilites in the form of the old trailer that was part of the last marina.

We are on A dock at Battery Park, and frequently spend time at the sand bar. It is a favorite swimming hole for the kids.
We'll have to find each other this summer.
Seems like there are at least 8 boats from West & East Harbor, as well as Sandusky Bay on this board.
We really do need to hold some kind of CSR gathering this summer. Even if its just to put names and faces behind the keyboards.

Sounds good to me. I will be in the water May 8 (snow or shine). Not sure about the first getaway yet. Bike Week is always a good time especially since we have entertainment nightly. June 5-14

I was going to warn you about said antenna erection deflection, but thought it best to leave it to our resident antenna engineer. :grin:

No special reason for antenna just looks more streamline with boat. Never had any issues. I live in Vermilion and dock in Sandusky but that bridge has taken its share of antennas. Use to dock in Vermilion but Sandusky is much nicer and closer to islands. Back a few years ago we had to load people on boats and drop them off at Mcgarveys to get under bridge.(Okay more than a few years)

It's good to hear from another Sandusky boater. We are entering our 4th year @ Son Rise and love boating in the area.

I've been keeping bike week open - looks like a great time to leave the kids at home? I'm guessing this is a first-rate people watching event?
In fact on the Ohio Bike Week site they show a raft off at the sand bar Saturday 6/14. Friday night at the Bike Week, Saturday at the sand bar & Sunday at the Red Bull Air Races (www.redbullairrace.com) on the Detroit River? Sounds like great opportunities for a CSR rendevous?

Bike week is definately entertaining. If you haven't seen the earthquakers they are really good.A rock band dressed up like amish,genius! If anyone is interested in transient slips let me know and I can prob get it reserved for you. I wasn't aware of the sandbar party but they did 2 last year and they were a blast. They actually float a barge out with a band for the day. Thanx for the comp

I saw from the Bikeweek website that the barge party is on Saturday June 13th from 1 to 4.
Might be a convenient place for fellow CSR members to meet and greet!
