Hi fellow members,
firstly... great forum with loads of useful info for new sea ray owners. Thought I’d drop in an formally introduce myself.... boating certainly isn’t new to me as I grew up around boats and have had them all my life - just no sea rays
I recently picked up a 2007 175 Sport with only 79hrs (now about 140ish) and have been having a ball with it the last few months going out every weekend and doing a bunch of tinkering. These things are a great solid little boat!
With lack of any real solid service history records, as soon as I took ownership it received a pretty decent go over with full engine and leg service, new manifold and riser, tuneup, compression tests (perfect) and a full detail and polish to try restore it to its former glory.
Love this little boat and is perfect for day trips, bit of fishing, taking friends out and water sports. The 3.0 TKS seems well matched to the boat and I don’t find it underpowered with what we use it for, great on fuel too! It’s purely a Salt water boat as I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Let me tell you, I was initially hesitant about a smaller bowrider as I’m a fisherman at heart and lean more to half cab boats + have a family cruiser (Larson 370 Cabrio)... but have really fallen in love with this little thing
Since then it seems like I haven’t stopped doing bits and pieces and have gone the DIY route with EVO flooring, upgraded gps/fishfinder, installed LED interior lights, upgraded stereo system with installing new bow rider speakers/replacing the cabin speakers/10” subwoofer, replaced prop with 14.5x19p (21p standard), installed Smart Tabs (amazing), reconditioned the trailer (bit of rust on the bunk supports etc) + new mag wheels, replaced bilge blower, installed fishing rod holders (attached to wake tower), stainless cup holders... the list already seems never ending haha
Current projects underway: installing dual battery setup with blue seas ACR and 2x 75AH batteries and a second amplifier to run the front and rear speakers (clarion) + a bunch of rewiring to for the “house battery systems”. After that, a second auto bilge pump (boat gets used in a large body of water, copping a wave over the front is a fear of mine), maybe some wake tower speakers then who knows
Anyway.... iv been a big forum junky with all my previous life passions and look forward to contributing to the site for other people who have the same boat - as I know just how useful information can be when undertaking projects on your own.
If anyone wants any info or if I can help in anyway don’t hesitate to reach out!
I’ll try upload some pics
Cheers,
Dave
