Hi All:
I am looking for my first (working) boat. I have a long-term project boat that I am replacing the stringers, floor and transom on, but I need a boat we can just use immediately starting this season.
There is currently (on the local CL) a 1984 SRV 225 Express Cruiser for $3500. It seems in decent shape (for a 1984) and the only obvious thing it needs is new upholstery on the seats. The seat structure, including the foam, is good. The trailer is relatively new, a 2012 tandem with new tires.
Anything else I should look at that might be a trouble spot on this boat (other than the obvious stuff like soft floors, etc.?
I could hire a surveyor, but they usually charge around $500 (from what I hear) and my boat budget is right around the $3500 boat asking price.
Thanks
Steve
