Not being a Raymarine fan I found the discussion by people who understand the nuances of that equipment to be enlightening. Unlike some, I take boating seriously and use CSR for more than amusement.
The way it appeared to those of us following the thread was that an entire page of posts was deleted for some unknown reason. I guess I should have been able to devine the reason since the current trend in rule enforcement seems to be to just delete things which seems very much like treating the symptom rather than the diesase.
But, you own the place....if you want to let threads head way off subject and turn into name calling exercises, then y'all have at it, but telling members to stay on subject or stop name calling or brand bashing will do more good than hitting delete when someone breaks a rule.

Frank, this board is moderated for the good of everybody and so that it runs smoothly. The whole point of moderation is so that you DON'T see the crap. The people involved in the crap of this thread were talked to via PM. I was not aware I was supposed to inform you of every post I have deleted. You really must have something better to do that to care about seeing posts where people are called names and then scorn me for not informing YOU that I deleted some crap off the forum. The people involved were asked not to post anymore (with name calling), they did, so it got deleted. For now on I will advise the mods to PM you on all behind the scenes stuff for you approval.

Well, thank you for the primer in forum moderation, but I think I understand what it is all about. You completely missed my point and have assumed that I'm interested in the crap you deleted, which is not the case. If you send it to me,...well, I have a delete button here too.
My frustration is that in the last 2 weeks I've been following threads that had excellent content when I last looked at them, then, either the entire thread dissapeared or sections of it did and there must be a better way to handle this than to leave forum members wondering if they are nuts.
As far a Gary is concerned.........I find him to be very knowledgable and that he offers keen insight into lots of subjects and I particularly enjoy his good humored (although slightly twisted!) approach, but if he breaks the rules....he's your problem...I'm not up for that challenge!
