Hi - new issue with the toilet. The water is very slowly draining out of the bowl throughout the day.
I went in there and cleaned it up very thoroughly, this has happened before when a piece of whatever is stuck there and the ball valve doesn't quite close all the way.
Is there a gasket or something I should try to replace as a simple fix? Has anyone else had this happen before?
Thanks in advance for your help...

If you have the Vacuflush toilet there is a seal for the ball to push against. Mineral deposits can form on the seal. You can try to scrape around the seal edge to clean. Also the ring around the toilet may need tightening. You can download the manual from the web that has a break down of the parts.

Keith, The white ball shaped valve has a black gasket. That is what holds the water in the bowl and allows a vacuum to form. If that seal is fouled or worn out, you have a minor albeit ughly repair. First, try to clean the bowl gasket and cavity below. I use a typical bowl brush ( looks like a fuzzy q-tip) and with the pedal depressed scrub the leading edge of the gasket and its track and seat area. Don't use any foaming cleaner. SeaLand makes a acceptable cleaner. It only takes a scrap of TP or crud to the break the seal.

Try it after cleaning. If it works, great keep the bowl brush close and train the crew on how to use it. If it sill looses vacuum, you'll need to change out that gasket. Down load the maintenance manual for that job.

While you are at it, if the duck bill valves are more than 2 years old, buy new and change them on the vacuum pump (2), macerator pump if you have one (2) and I believe you have one in the head.

Open the tank and clean off the sending unit floats and hose down the interior of the tank to break up sediment and tissue mats. Pump out the tank and reseal.

Now you have a Happy Head!

I gave it a good cleaning - thank God for rubber gloves - inside the hole. Seems to be working fine. I'm putting off tearing it down and replacing the duck valves until I absolutely have to...
Thanks for the tips,
Keith
