What should I do to prepare my head in my 240 SD (with a hold tank and pump out) for the winter months. I am located in GA and it can get pretty cold here sometimes (mis 20's ocassionally)....

Gary, we live in Michigan and i'll trade our winters for yours, as for winterizing your holding tank & toilet i have only just poured a gallon or two of the pink rv antifreeze in toilet and flushed it down. I have done this for 15 or 20 years with no problems.

Ditto what Ken said. Make sure you empty the holding tank (I'm sure you knew this!) and after the antifreeze has been poured in, add some head lube to the toilet and pump it to spread it inside the toilet valves (duckbill). This will assure the rubber in the toilet won't dry out, crack or take a set that will give you problems the following year. Don't forget to drain the water for the intake by opening the valve and letting it drain and then follow up by pouring some antifreeze in from the toilet end to assure no water is left in the hose to freeze and break the line. You'll have to remove it from the toilet to pour the water back down the line.

Being a marine mechanic for 27 years I can tell you the simplest way to winterize your Traveler toilet. As the others said, pump out and put 1 gallon of straight BLUE antifreeze in the holding tank. RV antifreeze dilutes too quickly. As for the water valve, simply hold the padal open with the fresh water pump running as you winterize the fresh water pump. This will pump red pop through the system and too the toilet as well. When red comes around the rim you are done. No need to disassemble anything.
we welcome any questions

Let's just hope there is a break in that line! I wouldn't want MY toilet attached to my freshwater system! Hopefully the "Traveler" toilet (I'm not familiar with that one) has such a break to prevent critters from moving upstream! On my boat, the water for the toilet comes through a seacock and NOT the freshwater system. Blue antifreeze is overkill if your temps only hit the mid 20's! I've used the pink stuff down to 24 below and haven't frozen a line yet!
