I don't know if any of you have watched the series titled "Treme" (pronounced "Tray May" by some, or "Tree Me" by others, one word, two syllables) about life after hurricane Katrina. Being born, raised, and gonna be buried in New Orleans, let me tell you, this is THE MOST EXCELLENT depiction of life in New Orleans.

I've watched many shows and movies about New Orleans, and they all portray us as some back water, country a$$, incest performing hicks and I HATE THAT $HIT!!!. But, we're really just the opposite. Happy go lucky, looking for a good time, eating somebody's greasy rich a$$ food.

In one of the scenes, they are filming in a local restaurant called "Lil Dizzy's". I eat there at least once a week. In fact, I had lunch there today. Red Beans and Rice (A New Orleans Monday Tradition) with fried chicken and bread pudding for desert.

Another scene, they are at a local Sport's Bar called "Bullet's" (the owner is a personal friend). I go there on Tuesday's (when the wife let's me out) to hear Kermit Ruffins (another personal friend) and the Barbeque Swingers play. Also the first show showed filming at a bar called "Vaughn's". I've been there a bunch of times on Thursday's to hear Kermit play. Kermit is the New Age Louis Armstrong.
During this same show, they were filming "Big Chief Lambreaux" going into his house for the first time since the hurricane. They were filming this particular scene around the corner from my house:smt038.

Anyhoot, if any of my SR brother's and sister's want to venture down here, PM me and I'll meet you at some of these fine establishments, that we call, a hole in the wall:thumbsup:.

Wish I'd have seen this earlier... I'm staying at the Hilton Riverside right now. (Down here for a convention) I have a flight home tomorrow afternoon. Just left Harah's up 500 not a bad night considering how bad the tables were.
